The 2020 Rogue Marathon Is Canceled Due To COVID-19 Concerns.
The 2020 Rogue Marathon, Half Marathon and 10k to be held October 17, 2020 has officially been canceled due to COVID-19 concerns.
Due to ongoing concerns over the recent spike in COVID-19 cases throughout Oregon and neighboring states, the owner of the marathon has decided to cancel the event for the current year. Jim Brendle, the Race Director and owner of the Rogue Marathon, was planning his third annual event before he and his team decided to cancel the live event. About the cancelation Jim states, “After careful consideration and consultation with the local government, healthcare community and authorities, we feel like we have no other choice than to cancel the 2020 Rogue Marathon.”
Providence Health and Services, the title sponsor of the event, expressed their support for the decision in a recent statement. “Providence supports the decision to postpone this year’s event in response to the ongoing pandemic. We look forward to a time when our community can come together again in support of healthy activities like the Providence Rogue Marathon.”
Any person currently signed up for an event will receive a full refund this week. Contact Sarahbrendle@sourwoodrunning.com with any questions.
